Life-Cycles
While we had the lovely weather, we brought our sensory play outside. We focused it on our story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' using all the fruit that the caterpillar ate - he had apples, oranges, strawberries, plums and pears so that is what we had to get stuck into.
We had to wash our feet afterwards and my goodness did we enjoy that! Who knew it could take half an hour to 'wash our feet'.
We took a look at the life cycle of a butterfly and made some interesting and also tasty crafts!
We had such fun in the drumming with Eddie O' Neill.
Circus
We had such a fun time during our circus theme with lots of different activities. Because we didn't have the opportunity to go to a circus...... we brought the circus to St. John's! We had a special visitor for not just one day but two different days (we are so lucky). Our visitor was Bobo the Clown. We played lots of circus games with Bobo. Take a look at some of the fun we had below.

We celebrated a very special birthday this month and enjoyed cake of course!

We are very good in this class as we brush our teeth everyday, however this theme we learned even more about dental health.
We practised scrubbing little germs off teeth, we positioned teeth on a picture of a mouth, we did painting with a toothbrush, but to name a few activities. Our new song went down a treat with the class as it was like having a disco in the classroom!

We still had time to do our Jolly Phonics 'c' and 'k'.

December was full of excitement for Primary 1.
Our fist exciting trip was a duck hunt in Dungarvan. We had clues to find the ducks in the shop windows around the town. It was so much fun!

November
What a fun few weeks we have had! Our themes this month were Fruit and Vegetables and Our 5 Senses. We did lots of work.
Fruit and Vegetables
Our song for this theme was so enjoyable. It was the Hokey Pokey with a fruit and vegetable twist! We enjoyed making lots of fruit and vegetable crafts and our story was The Enormous Turnip which was a brilliant story.

We loved our drama and sensory play which integrated with our story. We all dressed up as characters from the story - we had the farmer, his wife, a boy and a girl and went through the different scenes in the story and got a bit messy in the process!
Our Five Senses
For our next theme, our song was a lovely song about our senses, we focused on the sense of sight for our story, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? We did lots of crafts relating to our senses and the highlight of our was our sensory trip to the firestation. We used all of our senses while we were there, we saw the fire-engine, heard the siren, we touched the firemen's suits to feel the material and tried on their helmets, sat in the fire-engine and even got to spray water from the hose! And for our taste and smell senses..... we had a little treat in McDonalds because we were so good.

October
We have had such a busy month this month. Our two themes for the month were Autumn and Halloween.
Our Jolly Phonics letter we were focusing on was 'T'. We made lots of crafts for T. We expecially loved our turtles and turkeys.
We had lots of fun with our story 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt' because we all went on a bear hunt ourselves. We went through the deep cold river, the thick oozy mud, the swirling whirling snowstorm, the big dark forest and eventually got to the dark gloomy cave where we found our bears!!
We even made our own bears, that we got to eat....who knew bears were so tasty!
We really enjoyed an Autumn Scavenger Hunt. We were looking for different colour leaves, bark, acorns, twigs, pine cones, grass, stones, winged seeds and flowers.
Our song was 'Scarecrow, Scarecrow' which we loved so much, we even turned into scarecrows ourselves!
For our Halloween theme we loved our song 'Knock, Knock, Trick or Treat' and especially since we all got to dress up as each of the characters in the song. Our story was 'Room on the Broom' and we made lovely Halloween crafts.
We enjoyed a gruesome Halloween Hunt where we had to find witches, dressed up as mummies, ghost bowling and the best part was the Halloween sensory boxes. We got our feet and hands into the brains, monster ears, witches fingers, eyeballs and skeleton bones! It was great fun!
We also celebrated some very special birthday's this month.
We were all very happy we got to go for a walk downtown in our Halloween costumes. As you can see we really enjoyed it.
