March

We started off March with the theme of St.Patrick’s Day.
We learned a lovely song about a leprechaun who hid a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Then we had fun with our own rainbow activity where we had to match skittles to the different colours on the rainbow 🌈🌈

Picture
We mixed shaving foam with PVA glue and orange paint to make puffy paint beards for our leprechauns.
Picture
Below you can see us busy at work on our St.Patrick’s Day play-dough mats. We love the feel of play dough!!
Picture
Next we used these St. Patrick’s Day hats to help us learn our shapes. Some of us practiced saying the different shape names and colours, some of us were able to match the shapes and some of us worked on our fine motor skills by sticking the shapes on and then pulling them off again. Ms. Whelan was very proud of us all!!🍀
Picture
A big thanks to Ms. Walsh who invited us into her classroom to see the new chicks who had just hatched. We were so gentle rubbing these little chicks, we were all big fans!! 🐣

February

Our first theme this month was Friendship and Valentines!
Throughout the fortnight we picked different friends to dance with, pass a balloon with and roll a ball with.
Picture
Next we filled a bucket with treats and headed off to visit our friends in the other classrooms. They were delighted to see us (and the chocolate!!).
Picture
Our friendship trees.
Picture
We were very busy making lots of art for those we love 💓 💕🥰
Picture
Our favourite activity of all: messy play. We really enjoyed these Valentine’s Day sensory bags and bottles, filled with foam hearts and water beads.
Picture
Our next theme was Health and here in Room 3 we decided to focus on oral health and hygiene.
Lots of colourful crafts!
Picture
Here we are using toothbrushes to clean dirty germs off some teeth.
Picture
We enjoyed walking down town to buy new toothbrushes and our story “Peppa Pig Goes to the Dentist”.
We also had fun counting the correct amount of teeth to stick in each mouth and learning some new vocab!

Picture
There’s nothing we like more than a party here in Room 3. A very happy birthday to a very special friend!!

Our first theme this month was Winter. We really enjoyed getting wrapped up for our Winter theme song.
Picture
First we made some hot chocolate crafts and then we went to sample the real thing☕️
Picture
Here we are learning the difference between hot and cold. First we felt the hot and cold jugs and then we had a look at other hot and cold objects like ice and a hot water bottle.
Picture
We practiced putting on our winter coats.
Picture
We made lots of winter crafts.

November

Our themes for this month were Homes and Shopping. We enjoyed exploring both of these themes!

First up was the theme of Homes. Below you can see us busy at work making houses and homes out of different types of blocks.
Picture
After lots of practice in the classroom we decided to pay a visit to Ms.Dunfords room to show off our skills. While we were there we also enjoyed playing with the dolls house and making our own large house out of cardboard.
Picture
Some of our crafts from this theme.
Picture
Next we talked about the people who live in our homes with us and looked at some pictures of all these special people. Such excitement!!!
Picture
We gathered lots of household equipment and popped them in our trays full of water. We had so much fun pouring, measuring and splashing!
Picture
Our story was The Three Little Pigs and we enjoyed making houses of straw, sticks and bricks afterwards! We also enjoyed a sensory craft, where we mixed shaving foam and brown paint together in a bag to make a muddy pig.
We are getting very good at our Do-A-Dot activities, as you can also see below!
Picture
For cookery we made the Three Little Pigs houses out of cheese, bread sticks and chocolate. You have one guess what our favorite topping was......🍫🍫🍫🍫
Picture
The Three Little Pigs love mud and so do we!!!
Picture
Our next theme was Shopping, so of course we had to get out and about and visit the shops!!

We also had a look through some magazines and chose our favorite foods to fill our trolleys with.
Picture
We had great fun playing shop with Ms.Dunfords class.
This month we started Zumba. It’s just so much fun, we love it!!

October

Our first theme this month was “Autumn”, a theme we thoroughly enjoyed here in Room 3!! Wait until you see all the fun we got up to.....

Our theme song this month was the” Dingle Dangle Scarecrow” and we took turns to dress up and perform this action song for our friends each morning.

Picture
We made our very own scarecrow craft to match!
Picture
Here we are making some Autumn trees. We practiced our fine motor skills by using clothes pegs to pick up pom poms and then we dabbed them in red, yellow and brown paint!
Picture
Look at us raking up all the Autumn leaves in the school playground.
Picture
Back in the classroom we made some leaves of our own. First we had to rip strips of colored paper into smaller pieces and then stick them down with glue.
Picture
Below you can see us busy at work on a selection of autumn themed activities: a leaf counting game, fine motor practice with buttons, colour sorting autumn leaves and themed play dough mats.
Picture
Our story this month was “We’re going on a Bear Hunt”. We made the journey through the grass, mud, forest, river and snow storm as we read the book. Such fun!
Picture
Cookery was beans on toast and what a delicious feast it was!
Picture
Our next theme was Halloween- such fun!!!
We decided to kick start this theme with a spooky mummy craft. We put some marbles in a tub with white paint and rolled them all around to make our mummies look like they were all bandaged up!
Picture
We learned a lovely poem about “5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate” and then made a craft to match! We also had fun making bats.
Picture
We got together with our junior friends in the hall for some Halloween sensory fun. Witches fingers, eyeballs, brains........the messier the better!!
Picture
Georgie made a fabulous Witch’s Hat Ring Toss and we all had such fun playing with it.
Picture
We love a game of ghost bowling!

An apple a day.....
We took to the cookery room to make our very own apples- toasting and spreading jam, no problem to us!!
